West End LIVE takes place this weekend

West End LIVE takes place in Trafalgar Square this weekend, with a number of Winterson’s actors from West End shows taking part in the event. It’s an increasingly popular date in the London festival calendar, offering audiences the chance to sample scenes from across the Region’s theatres.

Presented by Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre, West End LIVE also receives support from the Mayor of London’s office. Now in its fourteenth year, the show features stellar performances from London’s most celebrated musicals on a specially built stage in Trafalgar Square. In 2017 more than 30 shows were performed over the course of the weekend to an audience of thousands.

A number of Winterson’s actors will be performing at the event, in shows including Kinky Boots, Bat Out of Hell, Thriller Live, The Lion King, and many more.

The new cast of Six The Musical, which was announced just this week and features Winterson’s actress Maiya Quansah-Breed in the role of Catherine Parr, will make their debut at the event before embarking on a short UK tour and taking up residency at the Arts Theatre in the West End from the end of August.

It’s not the first time Winterson’s has attended an open air spectacle in Trafalgar Square in recent months. In April Winterson’s actress, Anita Harris, dazzled crowds with her performance for The Player’s Theatre at the Feast of St. George celebrations.

Disney’s Lion King will be one of the first musicals to open up the Sunday session of this year’s West End LIVE, and here you watch a recent interview with Winterson’s actress, Janique Charles, who plays Nala in the show.

It’s an extremely welcomed celebration of London Theatre that is completely open to the public, and if you’re interested in attending the event you can find out more about the featured shows here.
