Anita Harris to appear in Last Laugh in Vegas

Winterson’s actress, Anita Harris, this week joins the cast of Last Laugh in Vegas, with the ITV show debuting at 9pm this evening. It’s the first show in a 5-part series that will see a group of UK showbiz legends prepare for a high-octane show in Las Vegas.

Cameras will follow the group of performers, which also includes comedy double act Cannon & Ball, entertainer Bernie Clifton, comedian Mick Miller, pianist and entertainer Bobby Crush, singer Kenny Lynch, 60’s pop idol Jess Conrad OBE, and singer and comedian Su Pollard. The show will show the departure from their homes in the UK to the moment they step onto the stage in Vegas, living in a house together and exploring the Vegas Strip.

In a recent interview with the Daily Express, Harris explained how Las Vegas provided the real starting point for her career:

“I used to go ice skating every day when I was young and two weeks before my 16th birthday I was invited to join a dance troupe and headed for Las Vegas. I performed at El Rancho, which became the first combined theatre, casino and hotel to open in the city. It was a phenomenal experience, with Mae West and Frank Sinatra in town, and I stayed for six months rather than the three I’d expected to.”

“Now, it’s Last Laugh In Vegas, which was a great invitation because I’ve known most of those in the show for my entire career. It was an opportunity to return to the place where it all began for me, Vegas.”

Anita has recently been touring with her show, An Evening With Anita Harris, and also has a series of concerts coming up with stars including Jimmy Tarbuck, Kenny Lynch and Bobby Davro. Last Laugh in Vegas begins tonight at 9pm on ITV, and will run every Tuesday for the next five weeks.
