Emmerdale named best serial drama at the National Television Awards

ITV soap Emmerdale was crowned Best Serial Drama at the National Television Awards (NTAs) earlier this week, receiving the accolade for the second year running. The show, which recently saw the return of Winterson’s actor Mark Jordon who plays Daz, is said to have held off close competition at the 2018 ceremony from Eastenders and Coronation Street.

Mark returned to Emmerdale in the summer of 2017, telling the Radio Times: “I’m overjoyed to be back. I had a wonderful time when I was here before, it was one of my favourite jobs ever and to get invited back had me screaming, ‘Yes!’ Daz is obviously very different to the person we saw three years ago, and has had a lot to think about since he was last in the village.”

There were awards too for Eastenders, which has just welcomed Winterson’s actor Madhav Sharma into the fold as a leading member of the Ahmed family and Coronation Street, in which Winterson’s actress Melissa Johns recently appeared in a highly publicised role.

A huge congratulations to all involved, nominees and winners alike!
