Summer Strallen shines in new Mel Brooks musical
Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein opened on the West End this week, to rapturous applause and standout reviews for Summer Strallen, who plays Inga in the show. The Winterson’s actress was reported to “light up the stage” by The Guardian, while Mel Brooks himself highlighted Strallen’s performance in the The Evening Standard, saying: “We were so lucky to find Summer”.
Young Frankenstein has been a hotly anticipated addition to the West End since it was announced earlier in the year. Opening night proved to be a momentous occasion and included an appearance on stage from Brooks himself after the show. The reviews have been a collection of four and five stars, with standout recognition for Strallen throughout the national and industry press. We have highlighted a few of them here:
“Summer Strallen lights up the stage as the incandescent Inga”
★★★★★ – The Guardian
“We were so lucky to find Summer Strallen, who is just flat-out gorgeous [and] sings like a bird”
★★★★ – Evening Standard
“Summer Strallen sparkles as his love interest, sex-mad blonde Inga. Fraser and Strallen collectively achieve that sort of sunny, lunatic bliss that only exists in musical comedy.”
★★★★★ – WhatsOnStage
“Want to howl with laughter? Walk this way-Young Frankenstein”
★★★★ – The Telegraph
“Success for this one is surely and deservedly guaranteed.”

We would like to wish Summer, and indeed the entire cast of what is already looking to be a West End musical classic, continued success throughout the run on this one!
