Winterson’s featured in the Mail on Sunday

Winterson’s was this week featured in the Mail On Sunday, as Lead Agent Niki Winterson called for greater female pay equality both inside and outside of the industry.

The short piece centred around BBC1 drama The Replacement, which unusually features two female leads side-by-side. The much celebrated show has been hailed as a breakthrough for Women’s roles by some, but Niki’s comments emphasise caution in an industry – and a world – where there is still much to be done:

“As a theatrical agent, I wonder what the women were paid compared with the men. [Winterson’s] is a member of the Equal Representation for Actresses (ERA) campaign but our fight for equal pay doesn’t end at the stage door. We support women outside of the industry too – disparity in pay exists in all types of employment.”

Winterson’s remains strongly committed to the issue of female representation and it’s an issue we’re actively involved in. Projects like The Replacement are encouraging but unfortunately all too rare and we look forward to seeing more work of this nature coming through in the industry.
