Winterson’s makes tracks to Edinburgh

Winterson’s will be heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival next week, taking time to meet with new artists and taking in shows from across the canon. The agency has committed to making a prolonged stay at the festival this month, with an emphasis on finding the next generation of female talent.

Leading agents from the company will take up residence in Edinburgh for a 2-week period from Monday 8th – Sunday 21st August, scouring shows for undiscovered acts and looking for emerging professionals that can bring innovation to the industry. Faye Timby, Trainee Agent at Winterson’s, said the content of the Edinburgh Fringe was changing:

“The temptation is to see Edinburgh as being exclusively about the male stand-up circuit and these performers making their transition into the mainstream,” said Timby. “But this is not the case. There is a huge pool of extremely talented female theatrical performers out there just waiting to make the step-up into larger productions and we aim to be the champion of that mobility.”

Winterson’s has grown significantly since its creation in 2011, expanding into a team of 5 dedicated industry professionals who look after the needs of over 100 clients. From its 3-story office on St. Martin’s Lane in Covent Garden, the company provides a personal management service, representing clients working on productions such as Star Wars, Beauty & The Beast, Ben Hur, Harry Potter and for companies like the BBC, ITV and Tiger Aspect. With its increasingly female clientbase, it hopes its own expansion will also help to enhance the opportunities for women in the industry.
